Morong Li

Morong Li is an industrial designer and educator whose work bridges digital technologies and physical making. He currently serves as a Digital Design and Fabrication Technician at James Madison University, where he supports interdisciplinary design education through digital fabrication, prototyping, and workshop instruction.

Li received a Master of Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2024, where he also earned a Certificate in Collegiate Teaching in Art and Design. With a multidisciplinary background spanning industrial design, computer art, and fabrication, his practice explores how computational tools and hands-on craftsmanship inform one another in the design process.

Before attending RISD, Li earned a BFA in Computer Art from the School of Visual Arts in 2019, where he developed skills in filmmaking, visual storytelling, and digital production. His project Pocket Board received the Graphis Gold Award in the 2022 Graphis Design Annual, and his work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Bowers Museum,
Rhode Island Convention Center, and Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Through both professional practice and teaching, Li emphasizes iterative making, interdisciplinary thinking, and the relationship between imagination, technology, and material experience.
